About Hair, Beauty, Leisure

The Foundation Degrees have been developed in partnership with the University of Derby and employers to enable you to combine Graduate study with vocational experience. On completion of this Foundation Degree you will be able to progress to a BSc Honours in International Spa Management at the University of Derby.

Hairdressing

With this qualification your employability and progression opportunities will be enhanced and you will be able to develop your career in a chosen field in the Beauty and Spa industries. During the programme, students will be introduced to management concepts that underpin the beauty and spa industries.

During the programme, students will be introduced to management concepts that underpin the beauty and spa industries. Work placement is an important part of the programme and gives students the chance to develop and apply their skills along with opportunity to visit spas overseas.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain recognition for advanced skills and management training within the Beauty and Spa Industry. The possibilities for career advancement in this fast growing environment are limitless.

We also provide an industrial week of demonstrations and presentations from guest speakers to inform students of current developments within the industry.
Students are taken to The Salon International and Health & Beauty Exhibitions held at London Docklands and participate in a visit to a major European spa centre. The College also has an exchange link with Esther Beauty & Fitness College in Hong Kong.

Recent research by City & Guilds, called Future Earnings – Golden Vocations, shows that increasing demand for leisure and sports, security, hairdressing and beauty services will mean high rises in salary for these vocations. By 2020, managers in these professions may command an average salary of up to £91,000.

Exciting developments in the department mean that starting in September 2007, a Foundation Degree in Hairdressing and Salon Management will be available. This course has already been validated by the University of Derby.
