The portfolio in this curriculum area includes a range of vocational and academic programmes that are complimentary allowing students to study from an Introductory level 1, through to MA by Independent Study, in both full and part time routes. The current higher education offer is developing to include courses in the areas of Dance, Music and Journalism/PR. Very often students whom have joined the College at First Diploma level 2, remain at OCVC after successfully completing a level 3 course in order to complete degree study. Staff are qualified to teach at the highest levels and have a profile of MAs with Phds in relevant fields. This is of obvious significance to college students whom benefit by the academic acumen of the staff. Combined with their professional teaching qualifications, the majority are practitioners, with a wealth of experience in a number of areas. The current mix include scriptwriters, journalists, photographers, graphic artists, actors, dancers and film editors. The ethos within the unit very much reflects that of OCVC, where creativity and the exploration of ideas and concepts are permitted to flourish. Students are encouraged to experiment and work across mixed media in order to achieve preferred outcomes. With a programme of events and activities designed to promote that work, students learn, very quickly, a whole range of transferable skills that will benefit them with future careers. |
