Mohammed Abbasi has lived in East Oxford City since 1963. He is an ex-telephone Engineer. He is the City Councillor for Cowley Marsh Ward of Oxford. He was first elected in St.Mary’s Ward in 2002. Mr Abbasi is an active member of the East Oxford Community and has been a Governor of the Oxford and Cherwell Valley College since 2003, serving on Human Resources Committee (H.R.). As a city councillor he serves on Cowley Area Committee, Strategic Development Control Committee, and Community Scrutiny Committee. He is also a member of the SACRE of Oxfordshire County Council and various voluntary organisations.

Mr Abbasi is a traditional family man. He devotes substantial time to his children and grandchildren and also enjoys socialising with friends and relatives. If and when he has any spare time left after fulfilling his duties within the community and family he likes to do gardening, travelling and studying history.
He speaks additional languages ie. Urdu, Arabic and Persian.
