A Level Studies

The key to success

At Oxford and Cherwell Valley College, we deliver popular and successful A Level studies programmes in a wide range of subjects. We want you to benefit from a combination or A Level package that suits your interests, skills and educational and career aspirations and so we offer a long and varied list of subject options at both our Oxford and Banbury campuses.

What can you expect from us?

As an A Level student at OCVC, you can expect to work in a professional environment that will challenge you and encourage you to succeed. Subject base rooms, high levels of specialist resources to support your studies and excellent access to IT and a variety of learning tools mean that you will have all of the key ingredients for success at your fingertips.

You will work with a committed and experienced team who are experts in their fields, subject specialists and highly experienced A Level teachers. Whilst developing your knowledge and skills, you will get all the help, guidance and support you need from members of staff who are fully committed to your development and success.

We pride ourselves on helping our students to achieve high standards of work and qualifications, providing them with a strong base from which to take the next step towards a career of their choice or to progress to University.

What will my programme of study include?

An A Level studies programme normally consists of a minimum of four AS Level subjects in year 1 (often with three subjects taken to ‘full’ A Level in year 2), individual tutorial provision and development of essential advanced study and key skills. An enrichment programme, designed to complement and enhance your study and time at college, is also included as part of your programme of activity as well as additional studies to meet your individual needs eg. English Language Studies for international students.

A learning partnership

We will work with you towards a shared goal – your success.

Our team of specialist subject teachers and highly experienced personal tutors will work with you to help you meet individual targets for achievement. Regular feedback in your subjects and review meetings with your personal tutor will ensure that the focus is always on success.

Success for us is about all our students achieving above their targets, developing advanced, transferable skills and leaving us well prepared for university or employment.

What will be expected of you?

We expect our A Level students to have high expectaions of themselves and to approach their studies in a professional, mature and positive way.

When you start your time at OCVC, you enter into an agreement that you will follow a particular course of study. We expect you to do all that you can to achieve your agreed programme in the best way that you can. We will give you our full support, during your time with us, to enable you to succeed.
