Student Successes - Peter Critchley

Catering graduate Peter, who excelled in both his School and College education, has made his mark at popular local Hotel and 2 Michelin star Restaurant, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.
Peter Critchley, 20, left Oxford & Cherwell Valley College last year and has been working under the guidance of Le Manoir’s famous owner, Raymond Blanc, ever since.
Graduating from NVQ levels 1, 2 and 3 in Catering & Hospitality, Peter has previously undertaken work placements at high profile events such as Royal Ascot, Henley Royal Regatta, Stella Artois Tennis Tournament, London and even a U2 concert.
“I enjoyed cooking from a young age,” Peter said, “and I always wanted to be a chef. The courses I studied at OCVC were excellent and taught me a range of cutting edge-techniques in an environment that helped me gain experience that have applied on entering the workplace. We had plenty of support and guidance at all times. The courses were run at such a high standard, preparing me with the confidence, knowledge and practical skills necessary for doing a job such as this.”
Peter feels that the level of support he received on all of his courses has been a significant factor in getting him to where he is now. According to his tutors his success was down to hard work, dedication and commitment, and they were all rightfully proud of his achievement.
In his time at Le Manoir, Peter has already worked in various sections of the kitchen.. He plans to continue working at the restaurant, moving round and learning the different sections and developing as a chef: “I want to learn as much as I possibly can and would love, one day, to own my own restaurant.”
